Alumni Spotlight on Jimmy ten Pas

September 7, 2020

Jimmy ten Pas

Jimmy ten Pas graduated from Clemson University in 2002 and has a master’s degree of professional accountancy from Clemson University as well.  Based in Greenville, SC, Jimmy is a Certified Public Accountant and was promoted to tax partner with Dixon Hughes Goodman in 2018.  He provides services to private equity funds, manufacturing and distribution companies, real estate companies, various family-owned or closely held businesses, and high net worth individuals.  Jimmy specializes in partnership taxation and is firm-wide resource as a member of DHG’s national tax desk.

Jimmy’s Clemson accounting professors are not at all surprised by the enormous success Jimmy has already achieved in his professional career.  Dr. Tom Dickens was “very impressed by Jimmy from the very beginning” and remembers being especially impressed by Jimmy’s critical thinking about tax issues and engaging questions in class.  Dr. Dickens recalls strongly encouraging Jimmy to pursue the tax track within our MPAcc program and being thrilled with Jimmy’s decision to join our program.  Dr. Steve Cash also fondly remembers Jimmy as “extremely bright and dedicated.”

Jimmy stays busy as a tax partner at DHG, but also at home with his family.  Jimmy is married to Julie (Wilson), also a 2002 Clemson alum, and together they have three boys, Luke (12), Tripp (9), and Wil (7 months).  Thankfully during the pandemic, they have been able to enjoy a swim season, golf, and spending a lot of quality time with their new arrival, Wil (at all hours of the day)!  They hope to enjoy a soccer and Clemson football season this fall.

Jimmy is extremely committed to his Clemson family as well, serving on the Clemson University School of Accountancy’s Advisory Board and returning to campus often to speak to students and attend recruiting events.  Though many of the current School of Accountancy faculty did not have the pleasure of teaching Jimmy, we all know him well from his work on campus and it is always a pleasure to talk with Jimmy at School of Accountancy events.  In short, the School of Accountancy is extremely proud to count Jimmy ten Pas as a Clemson alum, and we wish him continued success in his career and personal life.  Go TIGERS!
