In February 2022, Accounting Networking Night returned to an “in-person” format after being held virtually in the fall of 2020 and in the spring and fall of 2021. Accounting Networking Night is an opportunity for students and potential employers to meet informally to explore employment opportunities and get to know one another.
Twelve employers sent a total of 47 representatives to the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business on Thursday, February 10, 2022. They set up their firm displays in the Phyffer Auditorium in late afternoon. Over 70 students filtered in and out of the auditorium over the two-and-a-half hours allotted. At the end, it was judged a success by all! Employers and students alike were grateful to make in-person connections. We expect to hold the Fall 2022 networking event in-person and anticipate even more employers being able to attend as companies ease their COVID-19 travel restrictions.
The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the effectiveness of employers’ recruiting efforts. This spring many firms had unfilled internship and full-time positions. The return to in-person recruiting events will hopefully enable students and recruiters to make more effective connections and fill available employment opportunities.
