Micah Aebischer was born in Charleston, S.C. and grew up in West Columbia, S.C. Although initially interested in studying biology, a bad laboratory experience steered him to the College of Business and accounting. He decided to major in accounting after taking a principles of accounting class because the “numbers all made sense” and accounting seemed to be a “genuine way to help people.”
The MPAcc program was attractive to Aebischer because it allowed him to take his first four MPAcc classes as an undergraduate and provided him the opportunity to prepare for the CPA exam while also pursuing his master’s degree. Through careful planning, Aebischer has been able to complete both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a little over four years as well as pass three sections of the CPA exam. He attributes his success to the guidance and support that he has received from his professors and classmates. Aebischer stated, “I would not have been able to complete two [degrees] without a whole lot of people that were there to help me along the way.”
Aebischer is appreciative of the time he spent at Clemson. The undergraduate and graduate accounting programs provided him with the necessary tools to become technically proficient in accounting while also offering opportunities to network with accounting professionals from different firms. In addition to taking classes and participating in professional development activities, he still found the time to play intramural flag football and soccer as well as serve as the president of Lutheran Campus Ministry-Clemson in 2021. Although he enjoyed his time at Clemson, Aebischer is excited about joining FORVIS as an Audit Associate this fall and further developing as an auditor.
