Clemson Extension racks up awards from national association

Clemson Extension brought home 20 awards from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA)!

The NACAA Achievement Award recognizes excellence in the field of professional Extension for members with less than 10 years of service. Mallory Maher and Sarah Scott earned the Achievement Award.

Maher is a Natural Resources Extension Associate with Clemson Extension.  She first started her career in 2016 as a 4-H Agent. She recently switched to a statewide role specializing in online and hybrid natural resources programs.  In addition, Mallory is a Certified Wildlife Biologist, South Carolina Statewide Master Naturalist, and serves on the National Wildlife Habitat Education Program Committee. 

Scott serves as an area commercial fruit and vegetable agent with Clemson Extension. She covers multiple counties in, what is known as, “The Ridge” area of the state. Her focus is on commercial peach production. She enjoys working one-on-one with growers in the field as well as lending a hand to specialists and researchers through trial work and educational programming. Sarah also has enjoyed serving the SCACAA as the communications award chair since 2019.

The NACAA Distinguished Service Award recognizes excellence in the field of professional Extension for members with more than ten years of service. Jaime Polman and Zack Snipes were awarded the Distinguished Service Award.

Pohlman started with Clemson Extension in 2007 as a Greenville County 4-H Agent. She then moved to McCormick County, where she works with the Natural Resources Program Team on their statewide digital outreach programs and provides county 4-H programming. Jaime is involved with several committees working to increase agricultural and natural resource awareness throughout South Carolina. She also works closely with other organizations within her county to promote agriculture, natural resources, and healthy living.

Snipes is a commercial horticulture agent who leads a fantastic group of agents serving South Carolina’s fruit and vegetable producers. He focuses on creating more capacity within Extension by developing tools and resources available to small and large-scale producers and school and community gardeners. He is the developer or co-developer for SCGrower.com, the drip fertigation app, SC Weather Station Project, several online schools, and multiple books and learning modules for school and community gardens.
