The College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences completed recruiting efforts this semester at Claflin University, South Carolina State University, Francis Marion University, and Coastal Carolina University. This effort was led by Melissa Smith, Associate Dean of Inclusive Excellence for Graduate Studies; Tonyia Stewart, Director of Graduate Recruitment and Inclusion; Andrew Edmunds, Coordinator of Graduate Recruitment and Inclusion; and Andrea Vera Martinez, Graduate Administrative Assistant. In addition to the faculty and staff, Cornelius Walker and Grant Wollam attended to provide the graduate student perspective to undergraduates with an interest in graduate studies.
The trip, which began at Claflin University on September 21 and ended at Coastal Carolina on September 23, allowed the college to connect with more than 300 students to expose them to STEM ALL IN, the process of graduate school applications, funding for graduate school and how to engage REUs for research. Melissa Smith met with the administration at each university to establish a connection and provide a pipeline for students to become familiar with the programs offered here at Clemson.
