Professor Ge’s research lab won the Best Paper Overall Award at ICS’21

June 22, 2021

Professor Rong Ge and her Ph.D. students Thomas Randall and Tyler Allen have won the Best Paper Overall Award at the ACM premier International Conference on Supercomputing 2021. Word embedding represents the meaning of words as numerical vectors, and Word2Vec (W2V) generates word vectors. Word2Vec remains one of the highly impactful innovations in the field of Natural Language Processing. Their paper, titled FULL-W2V: Fully Exploiting Data Reuse for W2V on GPU-Accelerated Systems, presents a GPU-based word2vec algorithm that obtains significant performance gains on GPUs and outperforms CPU-based counterparts for the first time and by multiple times.
