Clemson selected as partner institution for Annexstad Family Foundation Leaders for Tomorrow National Scholarship Program

The Annexstad Family Foundation has identified Clemson University as a new partner institution for its Leaders for Tomorrow National Scholarship Program. This scholarship program works with a select group of universities to identify, educate, and nurture a special group of talented young people into the next generation of leaders.

In the 2016-2017 academic year, Clemson will select one deserving student to receive the $25,000 Leaders for Tomorrow scholarship to support his/her undergraduate education. We expect to select one new Leaders for Tomorrow Scholar each year going forward.

The Annexstad Family Foundation, established in 2000 by Al and Cathy Annexstad and their family, seeks to help deserving young people achieve their dreams of earning a college education. The foundation specifically supports young people who have overcome extraordinary hardship and who are also exceptionally bright and motivated. Both Al and Cathy lost parents to untimely deaths, and as a result faced great adversity throughout their young lives. With the support of his community and a strong reliance on his own values and resourcefulness, Al was able to put himself through college and went on to become the Chairman, President, and CEO of Federated Insurance Companies in Owatonna, Minnesota. Since its founding in 2000, the Annexstad Family Foundation has awarded over 500 scholarships, helped 125 students graduate from college, and partnered with nearly 60 colleges and universities.

Al and Cathy Annexstad had the opportunity to visit Clemson in the fall of 2015 to meet with University leadership, as well as several students who have overcome exceptional challenges throughout their young lives to pursue an undergraduate degree at Clemson.
