IBM supports student and faculty research through “Extreme Orange” program

Global technology company IBM is supporting cutting-edge faculty and student research in computing at Clemson through a unique framework titled “Extreme Orange.” With contributions totaling $200,000 in 2015 and 2016, IBM has allowed undergraduate and graduate students to work closely with a faculty member from the School of Computing on a research problem that is relevant to both the faculty’s member’s research goals and IBM’s business interests.  Extreme Orange projects involve students from multiple disciplines, such as engineering, computing, and business, and participants gain skills in business writing, market analysis, teamwork, and prototype building, among others. Current research projects are led by Dr. Jim Martin, Associate Professor in the School of Computing, and Jerome McClendon, PhD candidate in Human-centered Computing.

Clemson is grateful to IBM for providing our students and faculty with the unique opportunity to explore new research challenges and develop important real-world skills through the Extreme Orange program.
