AWWA Keeps our Lake Shore Clean

The Clemson student chapter of the American Water Works Association (CUAWWA) conducted their annual lake shore clean-up last week on Lake Hartwell. The group removed about 12 bags of trash from the lake shore in one evening. In addition to keeping our lake clean, the organization also focuses on providing students with networking opportunities in environmental engineering, specifically within the water and wastewater treatment field, including an annual career panel. The student officers of CUAWWA who organized the event are Kathryn Abbott (president), Hayden Page (vice-president), Shargene Nguyen (secretary), and Jack Chapman (treasurer). The faculty advisor is Dr. David Ladner. Special thanks to Rick Willey for providing access to utility vehicles at the site.
