Blais Receives Scholarship to Support Graduate Studies in Hydrogeology

Congratulations to Riley Blais for receiving a scholarship from the Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME). Winners of this award, entitled the, “2018 SME Scholarship for Students Seeking Geoscience Degrees in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina,” receive a scholarship and are invited to attend the SME Carolinas and Georgia Section Joint Meeting and Field trip held April 27-28, 2018, in Jekyll Island, GA.

Riley is receiving his B.S. in Geology in May 2018 and is continuing on the B.S./M.S. pathway to complete his M.S. in Hydrogeology. Riley won both the Jean Stillwell Award and the Thomas Logan Award for an outstanding student majoring in geology at Clemson, and he has been an officer in Clemson’s Geology Club for the past two years. He will graduate cum laude this May and immediately start an internship with the United States Geological Survey in Cape Cod before officially starting his Masters degree work at Clemson this fall.
