Jennifer Briglio, a Junior in Geology, was awarded a prestigious 2022 Goldwater Scholarship. She is among the 417 new Goldwater Scholars selected from 1242 national nominees. In most cases, each university may nominate only four students, making this a highly competitive national award. Jennifer is one of three Scholars selected from Clemson, which now has had 54 Goldwater selected since the program’s inception in 1989, and we continue to lead the ACC with 38 Scholars since 2006. Jennifer is the first Goldwater Scholar selected from EEES! Briglio’s research involves the use of ground penetrating radar to investigate how composition differences in rock type can influence how they weather, which in turn affects water availability and ecosystem resilience. A special shout out goes to Jennifer’s advisor, Dr. Brady Flinchum. You can read more about Jennifer’s award here.
Congratulations to Jennifer!
