Julia Ann Funk, a rising senior majoring in Environmental Engineering, was recently awarded a 2019 scholarship from Jacobs Engineering. The Jacobs Engineering Foundation created the scholarship program in 2009 as a tribute to Dr. Joseph J. Jacobs – the founder of Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. – for his commitment to higher education and his goal to make an education affordable to children. The scholarship is made available to students majoring in any of the science and technology fields of study at an accredited four-year university worldwide.
The Jacobs Engineering Foundation awards up to 20 academic scholarships of up to $3,000 each year to qualified, eligible family members of Jacobs employees. Julia Ann is working as an intern this summer in the Water and Environmental Group at the Jacobs office in Charlotte, NC.
Julia Ann is “on a roll.” This past spring she received the Robert W. Moorman Award, which is given to the most outstanding junior in engineering on the basis of scholarship and character. Given that the number of juniors in CECAS exceeds one thousand students, this is a highly notable award. Dr. Robert W. Moorman was the son of Commandant Thomas Moorman, a graduate in Civil Engineering and Head of the Engineering Mechanics Department from 1958–1974.
Congratulations Julia Ann on your continued success!
