Geological Society of America Graduate Student Research Grants Awarded to EEES Student

Kingsley Ejairu has been selected as a recipient of the Geological Society of America (GSA) Southeastern Section 2026 Graduate Student Research Grant. This award will support his research on the Cenozoic evolution of high-latitude North American river system, specifically the Mackenzie River.

The project aims to characterize the tectonic and paleoclimatic controls on the river’s evolution using deltaic sediments deposited in the Beaufort-Mackenzie Basin.

He is grateful to the Council of the Geological Society of America, GSA Southeastern Section, and the Committee on Research Grants for the award. He is thankful for the advice from his advisor, Dr. Alex Pullen, for the opportunity to work with him on this project and for his invaluable mentorship.

Kingsley is looking forward to advancing this research and contributing to a better understanding of the geological history of northern North America and the Beaufort Sea with implications for late Cenozoic climate dynamics in the Arctic.
