Meet Sam Holberg, BE Alumn: From Clemson Student Leader to Coastal Research Fellow

Sam Holberg, a former president of Clemson University’s Biosystems Engineering Club, is making waves in coastal research. After earning his Bachelor’s in Biosystems Engineering from Clemson in 2023, he joined NC State University as a PhD student in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, focusing on environmental sediment mechanics. Now, his hard work has paid off—NC Sea Grant and the N.C. Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve have selected him as the 2025 North Carolina Coastal Research Fellow!

Sam’s research will explore how floating oyster aquaculture infrastructure influences shoreline change, contributing valuable insights for sustainable coastal management. Congratulations to Sam on this exciting achievement!

Stay tuned for updates on his impactful work!
