Each year, the Class of ’39 Award goes to one distinguished faculty member whose outstanding contributions over a five-year period have been judged by his or her peers to represent the highest achievement of service to the University, the student body and the larger community. This year’s winner is EEES Professor Brian Powell. Dr. Powell holds the Fjeld Professorship in Nuclear Environmental Engineering and Science in EEES.
Considering that there are more than one thousand faculty members at Clemson University, the fact that only one is selected each year tell you something about how significant the Class of ’39 Award is. Past winners are among the most highly visible faculty at the University. This is a tremendous and richly deserved honor for Dr. Powell. Congratulations! You can read more about the award here.
