Teaching Kids that Science is fun

Dr. Lindsay Shuller-Nickles and the NuWaDi team hosted a table at the Savannah River Site (SRS) Museum’s 2nd Annual Fall Fission Festival held in Aiken, SC on October 19th. Children of all ages were excited to participate in hands-on activities. The Aiken Standard mentioned in their article that “Science is cool. Science is fun. And the whole event “is really to expose kids to science and get them excited about science and math and engineering,” said Linda Lindler, director at the SRS Museum.” While there, Dr. Shuller-Nickles had the opportunity to catch-up with EEES alum, Dr. Megan Hoover, who was also there representing Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL).

Clemson Associate Professor Dr. Lindsay Shuller-Nickles engaged kids with hands-on activities while also imparting to the adults a little about consent-based siting for spent nuclear fuel.
