The WEASC/AWWA Legacy of Learning Scholarship aims to encourage and support students who are pursuing a career in the environmental field. Makenzie Evans chose to pursue this career path by majoring in Environmental Engineering and intends to minor in Environmental Science & Policy. She chose this major because of her skills in math and science, combined with her interest in serving both her environment and the community. Her in-class and out-of-class experiences — including internships and research have led her to pursue a career in design related to water management and resources.
Kiersten Miller is a junior Environmental Engineering major who also plans on pursuing a minor in Environmental Science and Policy and she is from Charleston, SC! She chose this major because of her passion for protecting the environment around us and her desire to make positive impacts on her community. She also has been awarded the Water Environment Association of South Carolina’s (WEASC) Legacy of Learning Scholarship which is aimed towards helping students earning a degree in environmental studies. This scholarship will help support her in her goals as a young engineer to pursue a master’s in Environmental Engineering and to continue expanding her skills when she starts to work in industry!
