THIS WEEK IN SOUTH CAROLINA
House and Senate leadership have called the General Assembly back into session at noon on Tuesday, May 12. They are expected to work through Thursday, May 14, which is the final day of the session, sine die. Lawmakers have not yet passed a continuing resolution which would fund state government at 2019-20 in the event a budget is not passed by July 1. They have also not passed a sine die resolution which would provide an outline for the General Assembly’s return to session after May 14.

Working groups for each of the five components of Governor McMaster’s Accelerate SC task force met last week. The full group is expected to convene again this week to hear reports and recommendations from the working groups.

The economic revitalization plan consists of five components of analysis and effort:  Response (Lead: Dept of Commerce), Protection (Lead: DHEC), Governance (Lead: Executive Office of the Governor), Resources (Leads: Dept of Administration, Executive Budget Office), and Information (Lead: Dept of Administration).

These components will employ maximum communication, collaboration and cooperation among themselves and those assisting to effectively identify issues, solutions, and assets necessary for a phased revitalization path for South Carolina’s economy, guided by healthcare and medical data.
