Frederick Sias Jr., Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering –  Feb. 22, 2022

Frederick Ralph Sias Jr., 90, of Clemson, Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering, died Feb. 22, 2022.

Sias retired from Clemson in 1993 after 17 years.

Sias received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. in physiology and biophysics.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central. Ashes will be interred privately in the Sias family plot at Palm Cemetery in Winter Park, Florida.

Lillian Blake Hart, Associate Professor Emerita of Elementary and Secondary Education – January 28, 2022

Lillian Blake Hart, 83, Associated Professor Emerita of Elementary and Secondary Education, died January 28, 2022.

Hart began her university teaching career in Early Childhood Education at Memphis State University before transferring to Clemson University to become an associate professor of Elementary and Secondary Education, a position she held for 26 years until her retirement in 2000.

She received her B.A. degree from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, in 1960. After teaching in primary education in Charlotte and Newport News and Williamsburg, Virginia, Hart attained her Master of Education degree in elementary education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Elementary Education at the University of South Carolina, where she was the recipient of the Stoddard Graduate Fellowship in the College of Education.

Surviving are her brother, Carroll B. Hart Sr. (Jimsie) of Greenville, and her sister, Catherine Hart Hall (Edward) of Spartanburg.

Robert M. Horton, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Education – February 1, 2022

Bob Horton, Professor Emeritus in Mathematics Education, died February 1, 2022.

Horton began his career at Clemson University in 1998 and retired in 2014.

He leaves behind his wife, Heli; children, Eric and Kate; son-in-law, Jacob, and a granddaughter.

Linda Frady Allen, retiree – February 1, 2022

Linda Frady Allen, 76 of Pendleton, who retired from Clemson in 2012, died February 1, 2022.

She worked at Clemson more than 36 years, first in the Department of Civil Engineering and later in the Office of the General Counsel, from which she retired.

Allen is survived by her daughter, Laurie Binsz  (Mark) of Greenville; her son John Allen Jr. of Pendleton; brother, Gerald Douglas Frady (Gaye) of Spartanburg; and two grandsons.

There will be a small graveside service with immediate family on Wednesday, February 9, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg.

George Kessler, Professor Emeritus of Forestry and Natural Resources – January 29, 2022

Professor Emeritus of Forestry and Natural Resources George Donald Kessler, 79, of Six Mile died January 29, 2022.

Kessler was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received his doctorate in forestry. He spent his entire 38-year career at Clemson in Extension Forestry. He and his wife, Marsha, operated Hilltop Christmas Tree Farm, which they started in 1971.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years; three daughters, Joanna Tinsley (John) of Pendleton, Katharine Gray (Mike) of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jennifer Dobson (Greg) of Anderson; a son, Jonathan Kessler of Warm Springs, GA; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 12, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel conducted by the Rev. Ray Longenecker. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
