“HOOKed on Microscopy” Micrograph Contest Celebrates the Importance of Light Microscopy

Micrograph of buttercup roots collected using a Leica SPE Spectral Confocal in the Clemson Light Imaging Facility.

The Clemson Light Imaging Facility is celebrating the importance of light microscopy with the first annual micrograph competition, “HOOKEd on Microscopy.”

The competition is free and open to the public for anyone 18 years or older. Anyone who has taken an image using a light microscope can submit an entry to the contest. A micrograph is an image taken using a light microscope. Entries will be accepted until Oct. 13 at noon EST. Multiple entries will be accepted. A $300 Visa gift card will be awarded to the first place winner. Second- and third-place winners will receive $200 and $100 Visa gift cards respectively.

Even if you have never used a microscope, you can still enjoy looking at the contest entries and you can vote for the people’s choice semi-finalists!  Visit the Clemson Light Imaging Facility Facebook page the week of Oct. 13 and take a moment to vote for your favorite images.
