Steam service will be shut down beginning at approximately 11:59 p.m. Aug. 10 and ending at approximately 11:59 p.m. Aug. 11. This steam outage will affect hot water, autoclaves/sterilizers, building heating systems, dishwashers and any equipment, process or research activities that use central campus steam which is distributed to approximately 80 on-campus buildings.
A general (campus wide) steam outage is necessary to complete required inspections and for required repairs to the steam generation and distribution systems for the main campus. These inspections are required by law and repairs must be made for personnel safety and in order to avoid a potentially longer and more costly unscheduled or emergency interruption in the campus steam supply at a later date.
