There will be a steam outage affecting much of the campus from 2 p.m. Thursday to about 2 p.m. Saturday.
The steam outage will affect building heating systems; hot water; autoclaves/sterilizers; dishwashers; and any equipment, process or research activities that use central campus steam.
The outage will affect all areas of the campus except the athletics loop, which includes Fike Recreation Center, Littlejohn Coliseum, Jervey Athletic Center, McFadden and the West End Zone.
This outage is needed to install new steam, low-pressure and high-pressure condensate tie-ins and valves in preparation for installation of new steam and condensate lines as part of the Core Campus Project.
The work is estimated to take approximately 48 hours. Temperatures during the outage days are forecast to be in the low to mid 50s, so employees who work in affected buildings should wear appropriate clothing.
