Campus administrative offices to close at noon Nov. 14 for Clemson vs. Georgia Tech football game

Earlier this year, President Barker shared information about Clemson’s Nov. 14 football game against Georgia Tech. Thursday night games on Clemson’s campus are rare. In fact, the university hasn’t hosted a Thursday night football game in more than a decade.

To manage the logistical challenges and clear parking areas needed to accommodate fans, administrative offices on the main campus will close at noon Nov. 14 and will reopen the next morning. With the exception of those who provide game support or critical services, staff will be expected to leave by noon and submit accrued annual or optional holiday leave for any missed work time.

“We would like to be able to provide staff with more flexible options, but it is important that we treat all staff equitably and comply with federal and state labor and personnel regulations,” said Barker.

The university is not canceling Nov. 14 classes, but faculty are asked to make alternate arrangements for classes and labs scheduled to take place on the main campus after 12:15 p.m. Facilities will be available on Saturday, Nov. 16, to provide a fallback date for rescheduling classes or labs. However, the final decision regarding the means of accommodation shall be up to the individual faculty members.

Cars should be relocated to designated spaces by 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, to avoid towing. Students should move their cars by midnight Nov. 13, and additional shuttles will be provided to assist them.

Faculty and staff who want to attend the game should move their cars into appropriate spaces. They also can take advantage of the discounted tickets offered by the athletics department.
