Inside Clemson

Clemson creates a LGBTQ Task Force

Clemson University has created a task force to address the issues that impact the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community. The task force consists of faculty, staff and students from a number of departments across campus and is charged with considering and recommending university policies related to safety, general welfare and greater inclusion of the LGBTQ community.

President Barker approved the establishment of the task force to help the university address issues of particular interest to the LGBTQ community on campus.

Ally training

In accordance with the university’s desire to create a more welcoming and inclusive LGBTQ environment, Clemson recently offered Ally training to faculty, staff and students. An adaptation of the Safe Zone program, this training was specifically tailored for Clemson’s community.

Participants gained awareness and understanding of LGBTQ issues and committed to advocate for the LGBTQ community. Program graduates received a lapel-style pin, featuring the Clemson Ally symbol. Clemson continues to offer the Ally training on campus. For more information, contact Becky Morgan at rmorga2@clemson.edu.
