Grants and contracts administration moves to finance and operations division

Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Bob Jones, Vice President of Research Tanju Karanfil and Executive Vice President for Finance and Operation Brett Dalton, jointly announce the move of Grants and Contracts Administration (Post Award) from the Research Division to the Finance and Operations Division.

According to Karanfil, “Clemson’s R1 Carnegie classification reflects the increased volume and complexity of the research grants and contracts awarded to the University in recent years. Federal rules and regulations included in the recently revised Uniform Guidance place an even greater emphasis on accurately accounting for and reporting on these awards.”

“Clemson’s Controller’s Office is better positioned to identify and address potential risks before they result in reportable issues that could potentially jeopardize the university’s opportunity to receive future awards,” said Dalton.

Grants and Contracts Administration staff will remain in their current Strom Thurmond Institute location alongside Pre Award and other Research Division staff. “We do recognize the synergies and benefits realized by having Pre Award and Post Award staff in such close proximity,” said Associate Vice President and University Controller Steve Crump.
