For the benefit of state colleagues encountering extraordinary personal situations, employees who occupy FTE positions (including probationary employees) encouraged to contribute their excess sick leave and/or annual leave that they don’t anticipate using to the State Employee Leave Transfer Program. Donations must be made before Dec. 31, 2015.
Here’s the eligibility criteria for donating your leave:
Annual leave
-Employees who occupy FTE positions (including probationary employees) can voluntarily donate up to one-half of the annual leave they are eligible to earn in a calendar year.
-Employees can use no more than 30 days and carry over no more than 45 days of annual leave in a calendar year.
-On Jan. 1, 2016, employees automatically forfeit any leave accruals above the maximum (45 days).
-Annual leave donations cannot be restored or returned to donors.
Sick leave
-Employees who occupy FTE positions (including probationary employees) may donate up to one-half of the sick leave they are eligible to earn in a calendar year, but they must retain at least 15 days of sick leave in their personal accounts.
-Employees can carry forward up to 180 days of sick leave.
-On Jan. 1, 2016, employees automatically forfeit any leave above the maximum (180 days).
-Sick leave donations cannot be restored or returned to donors.
