Multiple golf cart thefts reported on campus, what to do

The Clemson University Police Department (CUPD) has recently received reports of multiple golf cart thefts around campus. Some have been recovered at other areas on campus and within the downtown Clemson area. With that in mind, CUPD would like to remind you of a few safety tips to help prevent these incidents from occurring in the future.

Golf cart security tips
• Never leave keys in the ignition.
• Use locks to secure your golf cart. Locks take time to remove, which may deter thieves. Try attaching your lock away from the ground to limit any extra leverage for prying attempts. REMEMBER to remove your lock or cable before riding away.
• If possible, attach and lock your golf cart to a stationary object.
• Park in well-lit or highly-traveled areas.
• Immediately report any suspicious activity on campus to CUPD at 656-2222.
