SAFETY: Officials monitoring campus air quality resulting from wildfire smoke

As you know, wildfires in the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee have negatively affected air quality in the region. Clemson officials are monitoring air quality on Clemson’s main and satellite campuses in the Upstate as a result of smoke from the ongoing wildfires.

Meanwhile, classes remain on regular schedules.

Fike Recreation Center closed at 3:30 p.m. today and canceled its indoor and outdoor events for the evening. Visit Fike’s What’s Happening Now web page for more information on closures.

Officials recommend that anyone with respiratory issues limit outdoor activity. Outside exertion should be avoided. Anyone with lung disease, chronic heart disease or diabetes, who believes that they are being negatively impacted by the smoke should seek treatment from their physician, or on the main campus at the Redfern Health Center (for students), or the Joseph A. Sullivan Center (for employees).
