New leadership transitioned to the president, vice president and secretary and treasurer roles during the university’s April 19 Staff Senate awards luncheon.
2015-16 Staff Senate President Tina White handed over the gavel to Deveraux T. Williams, a CCIT information resource consultant, who became the 2016-17 Staff Senate president. Read more about Williams here.
Leigh Dodson, the director of Business Affairs for the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences assumed her role yesterday as vice president/president elect.
“Serving the staff of Clemson University will be an honor,” said Dodson. “Some of the best people I know are staff at Clemson University.”
A 27-year veteran of Clemson, Dodson has served on the State Senate for two years. The vice president/president-elect said that during her term, she wants to focus on increasing opportunities for the university’s staff.
“I will be an advocate for all staff,” she said.
Leslie Doss from the Diversity office moved into her role as treasurer for the 2016-17 term. Doss has been with the university for six years and served on the staff senate since 2012. Doss was honored with the Staff Senate President’s Senator of the Year award during the April 19 luncheon.
Amanda Menefee continues as secretary for the 2016-17 term.
At the meeting, the Staff Senate welcomed new senators, including Beverly Lanier (PSA), Janine Sutter (Extension), Jeffrey Holliday, Sue Whorton, Holly Williams (Provost), Janay Whitesel (HHD), Meg Newton (CoES), Cody Price (Student Affairs), JoAnna Floyd (Research), and Savannah Wigington (School of Ed). Their first official meeting will be in May.
Returning senators appointed/elected include Leslie Doss (Pres/BOT), Roberta Balliet (Athletics), Laura Clay (Student Affairs), Terri Vaughan (Advancement), and Mac Bevill (Facilities).
The Senate thanked its retiring senators for their service. Those include Julia Lusk (Provost), who is a past president, Julie Jones (HHD and School of Education), past president Matt Bundrick (Web services) and Hagan Walker (Research).
