Submit abstracts: Social issues in the search for extraterrestrial life

NASA has announced that they expect to find evidence of life beyond Earth within 20 years, which will be one of the most important discoveries in human history and raise a host of complex social and ethical questions.  Kelly Smith in the Philosophy and Religion department is organizing a workshop in the Fall where scholars from many disciplines will discuss these fascinating questions.

Clemson faculty and graduate students are encouraged to submit abstracts (preferably by June 1).  There will also be an opportunity for undergraduate poster presentations, so instructors might consider how they can work these themes into their Fall classes.  For more information, see the workshop website:  http://kcs098.wix.com/socia or email Kelly Smith at kcs@clemson.edu.
