Inside Clemson

Submit your chemical inventories by Feb. 15

When and why:

Chemical inventories are due in February every year. Clemson’s Environmental Safety (ES) office compiles all of the information from all of the inventories for Clemson’s lab and non-lab locations.  There is a federally required form that ES must submit annual by March 1 to the State of South Carolina based off of the information collected from the chemical inventories. Please submit your completed chemical inventories no later than Feb. 15 so that the university can meet the reporting deadline.

Where to find:

Find submittal forms here: http://www.clemson.edu/facilities/envsafety/chemInv

How to send:

Email completed inventories to:  cheminventory@clemson.edu
In the Subject line of the email, include the last name of the responsible party (Lab PI or supervisor), the associated department, and the year (2017). Make sure that the attached chemical inventory document is titled in the same manner.

What to note:

Be sure to include units of measure in the quantities column.  It may be listed as ounces, grams, gallons, liters, pints, pounds, etc.

If an inventory is submitted without the information requested, such as the quantity or the CAS #’s, it will be returned with an explanation of why it is considered incomplete. It would then have to be corrected and resubmitted. Remember that the CAS #’s are listed on the SDS/MSDS for the products.
It is perfectly acceptable if the quantity of a product is listed as zero (0).  This chemical inventory is a “snap shot in time,”  which means that you may not have the product stocked at this time, but that you know that you will use the product in the future.
