With the new academic year, Clemson’s Joseph F. Sullivan Center has launched a new version of the CU4Health comprehensive health risk assessment program complete with numerous online health and wellness resources. The program is open to all Clemson employees and retirees whose primary insurance coverage is through the university.

As in previous years, participants will visit the Sullivan Center for blood work that will provide information about cholesterol, hemoglobin, kidney function, red and white blood cell counts, and other health factors, said Sullivan Center health educator Caitlin Moore, who coordinates the program. They will then return to the center for a one-on-one visit with a health counselor, who will help them develop health and wellness goals.

But beginning this year, the health risk questionnaire that initiates the health evaluation process will be available online. Participants will also have access to an online health activity tracker as well as online resources covering weight management, nutrition, smoking cessation, stress management, and alcohol consumption.

With the new online capabilities, a participant’s progress can be tracked, and incentives will be awarded based on progress.

Taking a proactive stance on health and wellness can provide numerous benefits to participants, Moore said. “It can add years to your life, improve your quality of life, and save you in future medical costs,” she added.

The cost to participate in the program is $15. To register, please contact the Sullivan Center main office at (864) 656-3076. If you have questions about the program or would like to register a group for participation, call the office or email CUWell@clemson.edu.

Housed on the first floor of Edwards Hall, the Joseph F. Sullivan Center is a nurse-managed health center that provides opportunities for Clemson students studying nursing, public health, recreation therapy, and other disciplines to practice in supervised, state-of-the-art settings. The Sullivan Center provides health services to all employees on the Clemson campus, and its community outreach programs have become a model for how to serve rural and underserved communities.

The center is part of the College of Health, Education and Human Development, which offers programs in nursing, public health sciences, education, and parks, recreation and tourism management.
