Sullivan Center offering Flu Shot Fridays

The Joseph F. Sullivan Center is offering Flu Shot Fridays from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. every Friday during October.

Faculty, staff and community members can drop in during those hours or schedule an appointment that fits their schedule.

The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year, said Will Mayo, manager of clinical education and employee health at the Sullivan Center.

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that can range from mild to severe illness, and infects the nose, throat, and lungs, Mayo added. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these signs and symptoms: muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue, fever or feeling feverish/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose. The flu is spread mainly by droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze or talk.

The Sullivan Center will offer both flu vaccines available this season: the traditional trivalent vaccine, which covers three strands of the flu and costs $25, and the quadrivalent vaccine, which covers four strands and costs $30. The Sullivan Center accepts cash, check, credit and Medicare/Medicaid.
