University mail: Five ways to receive your package on time

By Anna Jewell, Class of 2017

Sending or receiving a package? No one enjoys the dreaded holiday holdup; when shipments are delayed. To avoid frustration, Lamont Toran, director of the university’s Postal Services department, shares five tips that will help your holiday shipping season pass with ease.

  1. For faculty and staff receiving parcels on campus, be sure to use the Zip Code 29634. It’s a special Zip Code, just for faculty and staff, which will keep your packages from getting mixed in with the students’ packages.
  2. Make sure you provide as much information on the shipping label as possible, include your full name and complete address. Even better, add your specific building and department name! The more specifics the better!
  3. Be sure to make your online orders in time to avoid courier cut off dates and extra shipping fees.
  4. Always double-check your shipping address and recipient name to ensure its accuracy.
  5. Pass your postal woes on to the Student Post Office, open from 8-5, Monday through Friday! Yes, even faculty and staff can use the on-campus Student Post Office, and it offers competitive shipping rates for FedEx, UPS, and the United States Postal Service.
