Executive vice president for academic affairs/provost search update

By Jackie Todd, Office of Media Relations

Now in its third week, the search for Clemson’s executive vice president for academic affairs/provost position has attracted roughly 300 nominations and contacts– more than half of these have come through nominations from the search website courtesy of the university’s faculty, staff, alumni, community members, and their friends and colleagues across the country.

The quality of the nominees, said provost search committee chair, Jeremy King, is impressive with at least 50 having achieved the very highest levels of national distinction and recognition in their disciplines. King, while noting the challenge of ensuring that excellent candidates from the nomination pool also appear in the application pool, also indicated that the nominee pool boasts a diverse selection of candidates with regard to race, gender and academic and administrative background.

The position remains open until May 5, when the committee will meet to discuss its initial review of applicants.
