James Allison, Jr, director of Aviation Operations – November 18, 2022

James M. Allison, Jr., 51, husband of Berinthia Coggins Allison passed away Friday, November 18, 2022.

James was affectionately called “Jimbo” by his family and childhood friends and “Odie” by his college and fraternity brothers. He attended Francis Marion University and earned a BA in business economics but pursued his dream of flying and went on to have a long career as a pilot. He worked for Powers Aviation in Florence and later became the director for aviation and chief pilot for Clemson University where he served 18 years before retiring in June 2022.

James is survived by his wife, Berinthia Allison; a son, James M. Allison III of the home; a stepdaughter, Adele Kimbrell (Luca) of Clover; his father, James M. Allison (Kathryn) of Greenville; his mother, Shirley Parkin (Roger) of Weaverville, NC; siblings, Patricia Craddock (Benjamin), William Allison, Sumner Allison, and Susan Elizabeth Allison of Greenville.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 18, at 2:00 pm at The L, 211 E. Broad Street, Greenville. A complete obituary with details regarding the memorial service can be found here.
