John Mittelstaedt, 58, former marketing professor at Clemson, died December 8, 2020, after a battle with cancer.
Mittelstaedt taught 14 years at Clemson until 2011. He was founding director of the Master of Science in Marketing program. He went on to serve as the dean of the School of Business Administration at the University of Dayton. He also taught at the University of Wyoming.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in religion and physics from St. Olaf College, a Master of Theological Studies degree from Harvard University and a doctorate in marketing from the University of Iowa.
Mittelstaedt is survived by his wife, Patrice Noel; children, Matthew and Marlow Mittelstaedt; parents, Robert and Venita Mittelstaedt; and sister, Mary Mittelstaedt Mann.
A private mass was planned for 11 a.m. December 14 and streamed on YouTube. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather.
Memorial donations can be made to the Dean John Mittelstaedt Memorial Scholarship being established at the University of Dayton.
