Mary Ann Kelly, professor emerita of nursing – Nov. 8, 2019

Mary Ann Kelly, 87, professor emerita of nursing, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, in Shelby, North Carolina.

She joined Clemson in 1972 and retired in 1995 as the acting dean of nursing.

During her career, she taught nursing in Iran with the World Health Organization and was instrumental in founding the Gardner Webb University nursing program. She was an avid fan of Clemson football and the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.

She is survived by one sister, Barbara Dawkins and husband Reginald of Boiling Springs, one brother, Forrest I. “Pat” Kelly Jr. of Shelby, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Nov. 11 and she was buried in Cleveland Memorial Park in Shelby.
