GEORGE BISHOP ANNUAL FELLOWSHIP
Awarded annually to MSE graduate students in memory of George J. Bishop III

  • Haley Jones, from South Carolina, advised by Dr. Stephen Foulger
    – Bachelor’s degree from Clemson University
    – Interests focus on radioluminescent crystalline colloidal arrays for bioimaging
       applications.
  • Ximei Zhai, from China, advised by Dr. Joshua Tong
    – Bachelor’s degree from China University of Mining and Technology, master’s from
       Beijing Institute of Technology
    – Interests focus on perovskite materials discovery for solar thermal hydrogen production
       and proton-conducting perovskite discovery assisted by machine learning
  • Minda Zou, from China, advised by Dr. Joshua Tong
    – Bachelor’s degree from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China
    – Interests focus on manufacturing protonic ceramic-based electrochemical devices by a
       laser 3D printing technique for high-efficient electricity production and methane
       conversion to value-added chemicals.

In honor of Dr. Gilbert C. Robinson, esteemed Ceramic Engineering faculty, 1946 – 1990

  • Rahul Rajeev, from India, advised by Dr. Kyle Brinkman
    – Bachelor’s degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar
    – Interests focus on synthesis and characterization of Li­7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO)  as an
       electrolyte material for battery applications.
  • Aaron Santomauro, from Florida, advised by Dr. Joshua Tong
    – Bachelor’s degree from University of Central Florida
    – Interests focus on  laser processing of CO2 laser processing of the Li­7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO)
       garnet-type solid-state electrolyte (SSE)

DAVID JENNINGS MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP
Established in grateful recognition of Clemson University in memory of David Jennings and family

  • Yongcan (Brian) Du, from China, advised by Dr. Thompson Mefford
    – Bachelor’s degree from Donghua University
    – Interests focus on quantitative analysis of transport of small molecules in solid
       polymeric materials such as crosslinked natural rubber.
  • Vaibhav Palkar, from India, advised by Dr. Olga Kuksenok
    – Bachelor’s degree from IIT Gandhinagar in 2016
    – Interests focus on multiscale modeling and simulation of active soft materials with
       adaptive functionality
