MSE Graduate Student Wins First Place Student Paper Award

Congratulations to MSE graduate student Gideon Irogbele, who received the First Place Student Paper Award at the 27th International Symposium on Laser Precision Microfabrication (LPM2026), held June 9–12, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina.

The International Symposium on Laser Precision Microfabrication (LPM) is the leading conference of the Japan Laser Processing Society. Established in 2000 by a group of pioneering researchers and scientists in laser processing, it has grown into a premier international forum.

The symposium brings together scientists, industry professionals, end users, and laser manufacturers from around the world to exchange ideas and discuss fundamental aspects of laser–matter interactions, state-of-the-art laser materials processing, and emerging technologies that will shape the next generation of laser precision microfabrication.

LPM2026 continued this tradition by providing an important venue for sharing new discoveries, strengthening connections between fundamental research and practical applications, and exploring future directions in laser technologies and their markets.

Congratulations to Gideon on this outstanding achievement and well-deserved recognition of his research!
