Tigers United

Junior Ambassador recognized

Earlier this month, Haley Plumley was recognized for her work with Tigers United. She received The Dreamer and Doer Award from her school. The Dreamer and Doer Award is awarded to the student who closely embodies the spirit of Walt Disney by dreaming big and doing big and thereby impacting the world around them in a positive way.  This is a very highly sought after award each year by our super seniors recognizing one of our outstanding students who has made a difference in his/her home, school, or greater community. Below is the essay Haley wrote for her award submission.

Hi, my name is Haley Plumley.

I am a Junior Ambassador for Tigers United. I want you to help me save tigers!

My passion is saving wild tigers and doing so by educating my generation about the dire situation the tigers are in. There are less than 3,900 tigers left in the wild. Tigers United is a partnership formed to help save wild tigers by four land grant universities with tiger mascots –Clemson, Auburn, Missouri, and LSU.

When I learned about the struggle of wild tigers and what the universities were doing, I knew I had to help. So, I suggested that a program be developed to educate my generation about wild tigers, and over the past 18 months, I have worked with the students and faculty of Clemson University to develop “Team Up for Tigers.” “Team Up for Tigers” is a program to educate elementary school students about the problem and solutions that will help encourage an environment where Tigers can thrive.

I am part of the next generation and by learning about the needs of the tigers now, we can take action to help prevent the extinction of wild tigers. As apex predators, tigers play a vital role in the circle of life and the consequences of losing them would be horrible. Our elementary school program is available now at our website (www.tigersunited.org ) Please help me educate my generation and help me save wild tigers and share Team Up for Tigers with parents and educators around the globe. Together we can save our mascot.
