First Tiger Grant Research Symposium

First Tiger Grant Research Symposium featuring the results of three seed research projects.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences’  first Tiger Grant Research Symposium was held at Rich Lab on September 9, 2022.  This seminar featured the results of three seed research projects awarded approximately sixty-one thousand dollars in total with multi-department collaborations. The three teams receiving Tiger Grant seed funds are listed below.

  • Team 1: “Making Buildings Safer by Improving Indoor Air Quality”     Andrew Metcalf (EEES)-PI, Nigel Kaye (CE), Mik Carbajales-Dale (EEES), Vincent Blouin (Arch/MS&E), Ehsan Mousavi (CSM), Chris Post (FEC)
  • Team 2: “Understanding the non-linear hydromechanical effects of extreme events to improve performance and reduce costs of infrastructure foundations”     Ravi Ravichandran (CE) – PI, Larry Murdoch (EEES)
  • Team 3:  “Laying down roots: Mimicking Root Architecture to Develop Innovative Cost-Effective Foundations for Tall Wind Turbines”       Brady Flinchum (EEES) – PI, Ravi Ravichandran (CE)
