We are pleased to present the AY’26 SCEEES Distinguished Lecture Series featuring prominent leaders in both academia and industry. These distinguished leaders will present lectures at the Watt Family Innovation Center with two seminars scheduled in Fall ’25 and three seminars in Spring ’26.

Dr. Anna P. Barros will deliver a distinguished lecture on September 26, 2025. Dr. Barros is the the Donald Biggar Willett Chair of Engineering and the department head for Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her primary research is in Water Resources Engineering and Science.

Dr. Henri P. Gavin will deliver his distinguished lecture on October 31, 2025. Dr. Gavin is the W.H. Gardner, Jr. Department Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Duke University. His primary research themes are Computational Mechanics & Scientific Computing, Geomechanics & Geophysics for Energy and the Environment, and Risk & Resilient Systems.

Dr. Jacqueline MacDonald Gibson is the Twisdale Family Department Head for Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University. Her research interests are in interdisciplinary research on the quantification of risks due to environmental contamination and on the quantitative comparison policy options for controlling environmental risks. She will deliver her distinguished lecture on March 6, 2026.

Kenneth T. Lane is the President and Chief Executive Officer for the Olin Corporation. His company excels with three main production sectors: chlor alkali products and vinyls, epoxy, and Winchester ammunition. Ken is also an alumni of Clemson’s civil engineering department! He will deliver his distinguished lecture on April 3, 2026.

Dr. Paige J. Novak is the Joseph T. and Rose S. Ling Chair in Engineering and the department head of Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Novak specializes in research on the biological transformation of hazardous substances and pollutants with a focus on, especially in how external environmental factors influence biodegradation. Her distinguished lecture is scheduled for April 17, 2026.
