CUAWWA Sponsors 2018 Career Panel

The Clemson Student Chapter of the American Water Works Association (CUAWWA) and the Environmental Engineering Club sponsored the seventh annual Career Panel this month. As the group’s signature event, it provides an opportunity for students to network with industry professionals to learn about internships and full time career paths in the fields of environmental/biosystems/civil engineering and geology and hydrogeology. Because the Career Panel began as a CUAWWA event, much of the focus is on water and wastewater careers, but the scope of the event has expanded as the Environmental Engineering Club has teamed up to host the event.

The Career Panel is designed to have four or five panelists answering questions from the audience for about an hour, and then there is another hour of heavy hors d’oeuvres for students to meet with professionals from consulting firms, municipal leaders, and government agencies. About 20-30 professionals typically attend the event, and this unstructured networking is beneficial to both the students and professionals because students can meet influential people in their fields, and professionals can identify up-and-coming students that they can attract to their companies.
