EEES Welcomes 3 New Faculty in the Fall Semester

We are delighted to announce that we hired three faculty during the spring semester who will join EEES during the fall.

Dr. Diana Vanegas is our newest hire for the Biosystems Engineering program.  She earned her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from the University of Florida.  Most recently, she served as an Assistant Professor in the School of Food Engineering at the Universidad del Valle, Colombia.  Dr. Vanegas’ research is focused on integrating and adapting technologies to support sustainable food systems, and her program spans the United States, Colombia and China.

Dr. Brady Flinchum is our newest hire for Geology/Hydrogeology.  He earned his Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of Wyoming and is currently doing a post-doc with the Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Adelaide, South Australia.  Dr. Flinchum’s research interests focus on understanding of the relationships between geophysical, hydrological, and geochemical parameters, elucidating complex processes that shape and maintain shallow (< 100 m) subsurface structure, and understanding of the distribution of groundwater in shallow aquifers.

Dr. Emily Scribner is joining EEES in a newly created position as a Lecturer for Geology and Environmental Science and Policy.  She earned her Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of British Columbia.  In addition to having expertise in Geology, Dr. Scribner has a deep interest in the application of evidence-based teaching practices.
