Karanfil Selected as Editor for Premier Journal

Dr. Tanju Karanfil has been selected to serve as an Editor for the journal Water Research. The invitation was extended by the journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Professor Eberhard Morgenroth, who is a professor at Eawag Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology. With a current impact factor of 13.4, Water Research is widely regarded as one of the premier journals in the field of environmental engineering and science. Karanfil served as an Associate Editor for Water Research for several years prior to this elevated role as an Editor.

He joins a group of 22 preeminent international scholars who do the important work of evaluating the thousands of manuscripts submitted to Water Research each year.  In addition to serving as the Vice President for Research at Clemson University, Karanfil maintains a highly active, world-class research group in EEES.  His primary research interests are in the fundamentals and applications of physiochemical processes in water, wastewater, and hazardous waste treatment systems.  Dr. Karanfil’s research group is particularly interested in applying the fundamentals of chemistry and engineering to address environmental challenges faced in practical applications including both engineered and natural systems.
