Ms. Margaret Thompson has retired from teaching after a distinguished career as a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (EEES). Ms. Thompson joined EEES in 1999 and since then has taught an advanced level course in the Environmental Science and Policy (ENSP) program, ENSP 4000/6000. She brought a wealth of experience to teaching, having previously served as a staff attorney with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region II (New York City) Office, in the Waste and Toxic Substances division of the Office of Regional Counsel.
Ms. Thompson found her passion for law and the environment while attending the University of Michigan Law School. She taught students at Clemson University from diverse backgrounds, many of whom were pursuing a minor in Environmental Science and Policy. For most students taking her course, this was their first major exposure to the legal profession and how it relates to environmental quality. Quite a few were inspired to apply to law school, or to pursue graduate studies in their science and engineering fields. Her passion for teaching and environmental quality will be missed. Thank you, Margaret, for your deep dedication to EEES and Clemson University
