Sam Holberg, a Junior in Biosystems Engineering, won a first place award in the Undergraduate Poster Competition at the 2022 Annual Conference of the Institute of Biological Engineering (IBE), held in Athens, GA from April 7-9. Sam’s poster was entitled Development of Lanthanum-Doped Carbon Dots for Rapid Phosphorus Sensing in Environmental Water Samples. IBE supports the community of scientists and engineers that are addressing global challenges in the environment, resources, energy, health, and sustainability through biological systems analysis and design. The annual IBE meeting draws attendees from across the US and covers topics ranging from bioenvironmental engineering, circular food and agriculture systems, and synthetic biology, among many others.
Sam also won First Place for his research poster as the 5th Annual Clemson Student Research Forum, held on April 8, 2022 at the Watt Family Innovation Center.
Sam is advised by Dr. Diana Vanegas in EEES and Dr. Eric McLamore in the Agricultural Sciences Department.
Congratulations to Sam!
