We have been working with the director of the Pre-Collegiate Program Office (PcPO), Mr. Greg Linke, to clearly communicate policies and improve the process for keeping our programs in compliance. The PcPO was formed in 2011 to establish consolidated oversight of the policies and operating standards for programs and activities involving non-student minors.

The PcPO takes a proactive approach to protecting children and University faculty, staff and volunteers working with minors in programs or activities affiliated with the University. They will help ensure we are educated about policies and operating standards for programs so that we always uphold the promise of providing a safe environment.

• Mr. Linke has agreed to conduct six training sessions. These sessions will be informative, positive, and productive with the goal of achieving a clear system to enact across Extension. I ask that everyone come prepared with an open mind to fully participate, ask questions, and contribute constructive feedback that will help meet our objectives.
• This training is crucial and should be taken seriously to ensure that youth and University faculty, staff and volunteers are not put at risk.
• All those required to attend may choose from the six scheduled trainings and must email the administrative staff member who is listed as the contact below to inform them of their attendance. Attendance will be taken at every session.
• If other sessions are scheduled on the Clemson campus or at another location, they will be added to the list below. Coastal District employees will need to plan to travel to one of the sessions listed above.

The 43rd Annual South Carolina Association of Extension Administrative Professionals (SCAEAP) Conference will be held in Columbia, S.C., April 27-28.

Registration is now open, and the deadline to register is March 24. Please complete the conference registration form and email to Victoria Cushman at vcushma@clemson.edu. 

Our speakers will include Dr. Kirby Player, Palmetto LEAF director; Dr. Rhonda Matthews, Rural Health Program Team director; Ms. Chase Baillie, Food Safety and Systems Program Team area agent; Dr. Shannon Alford, Clemson Agricultural Service Laboratory director; and members of the Department of Pesticide Regulation Team (DPR). Dr. Thomas Dobbins, Cooperative Extension director, will provide CAFLS and PSA updates.

We will also hold our silent auction to fund the SCAEAP scholarship, which goes to a high school senior pursuing a career in business administration.

Hotel rooms must be secured by March 24! Please use the Cambria Hotel’s SCAEAP booking website to reserve your room as soon as possible. The room block choices are (2) queen beds or (1) king bedroom for $119 plus tax under the room block which ends on March 24.

The 2023 South Carolina Association of Agricultural Agents (SCACAA) Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference is scheduled for May 10–12 in Rock Hill at the Cambria Hotel in Rock Hill at the University Center.

Registration is now open; please use the Eventbrite link to register and view the agenda. Specialists with Extension appointments are encouraged to attend. Specialists do not have to be a SCACAA member, but there will be a different registration rate.

After you register, use the Cambria Hotel’s SCACAA reservation website to reserve your hotel room. All Rooms are $120/night plus tax with options for a single King or two Queen beds. You must reserve your own room, it is not included in the registration process.
