Email Signatures

Every communication we send out shapes our audiences’ impression of Clemson Cooperative Extension — from direct mail to email. It’s one more way we can show the world that South Carolina is Tiger country. And considering how often emails get sent, it’s probably the only way we can show them a few dozen times every day. This is why it’s important that our email signatures follow the updated Clemson University guidelines.

Please take a moment to look at the signature formatting in the sample located on the Branding Email Signatures webpage. If your email signature does not look the same (fonts, color, content order, etc.), please edit accordingly.

(*) As of April 2023, the complete text of the Civil Rights statement is not required in every email correspondence. Linking to the Extension’s Civil Rights, Diversity and Inclusion webpage in your email signature meets the requirements set forth by the USDA.

How to Update Your Email Signature

The easiest way to update your signature file with Clemson’s branding is probably going to be to copy the sample provided on the Email Signatures webpage. Replace your current signature with the copied text, then edit the content with your professional contact information.

  • If you’d like additional details or a video tutorial on creating/editing signature files with Microsoft Outlook, check out Microsoft’s Support website on this topic.
  • You may find that asking an officemate or peer for help — someone who has successfully made the update — can quickly provide you with help if you are struggling to make this update.
  • Remember, if you have >25% Extension appointment, your email signature needs to include a link to the webpage featuring the Civil Rights Statement. (*)

Please note: There are resources on the lower section of the Email Signatures webpage on how to update an email signature based on your device type and operating system.
